CAG is derived via hydrolysis of the primary active compound in Astragalus membranaceus—with maximum concentration reaching up to 0.5% of the dry weight in 4–5-year-old plants. Research has shown that cycloastragenol increases telomerase activity by 4.3 times, thereby contributing to the deceleration of cellular aging.
